2004 – 2005

Joined as prodigy from England, Owen was presented with the number 11 shirt. However, Owen’s new chapter was rather slow paced as he was often confined to the bench and drew criticism from fans and the Spanish press for his lack of form.

Owen responded haters by achieved scoring spree in numerous major games and ended the 2004 – 2005 season with 13 goals in La Liga, became the player with highest ratio of goals scored to number of minutes played. On 31 August 2005, Owen return to his homeland by signing a 4-years contract with Newcastle United that worth up to £16.8 million.
